New Pool Celebration

Yesterday we had a celebration for our new pool  We got to swim, go on the water slide, two bouncy castles, and we also got free sausages.
The new pool  has a spot for the little kids and touldlers. When we first got it we could hardly even breathe because it was that cold! We warmed up a bit after we swam.

swimming in the new pool

On Tuesday we had our opening of our new pool. It was so much fun we had a sausage two bouncy castles and a new water slide from the left over money from the pool.We also had a swim in the new pool. I ( Jamie h) got to jump in the pool first with 14 other people  from the school because early on in the year we did the swimmathon and did a lot of laps. Room ten got to go in the pool first out of all the classes in the school the next day. It was a bit chilly but we got used to it after a while.

Power animals

For about a week we have been learning about KIDS SKILL'S.We all have a skill to learn.Mine is to remember my opinion is different from others and Lily's is to let others have their way.We all have names for them.Mine is the Tiger skill Lily's is Shadow cat terra spin. We also have power animals. Mine is a black pegagus and Lily's is plusal and minal. They all have to be fantasy. We all have to think of our power animal when things are hard. When we think of our power animal  when things are tough we have little seenteces that they say to us. I would like mine to say ''I believe you can do it because I can see it in your eyes." Now you know all about Room10's power animals.

Kia Kaha

Kia Kaha Last Tuesday Constable Garland came to room 10 to teach us about bullying. First we looked at a photo and we had to think about there differences. It was quite challenging because Constable Garland told us that they all came from different countries so we couldn't say they came from the same place. That photo was in black and white then he gave us the same photo but in colour so that made it a bit more easy. After we did the photo stuff we started to talk about bullys. Then on Wednesday we did Kia Kaha with Mrs Coffey we drew pictures of what we thought a bully looked like. Most people drew pictures of big guys with bulkey strong muscles in a dark alley with dodgey tatoos and tatty clothes body armor and knocked out teeth(i did ) but we were the ones who were wrong. You don't get bullys like that at schools a bully could be a adorably cute little girl who if you tell on them they say "ME I would never ever do such a thing like that" and then put on a sweet smile for the teacher it could be anyone! But when we did our pictures about 65 or 70% of the people in our class did a boy/man I think they did because its normally the guy who get in the fights using violence and bad words, ending up geting black eyes, scody bruises and lots of blood dripping out of their mouth and nose but thats just in the movies (eg) Indiana Jones.Anyway back to the bullying.Mrs Coffey made this kia kaha box, if we see or get in a situation of bullying we get a special piece of paper and write what happened and it will help us not bottling up our feelings. What I meen by bottling up means when something happens and you don't tell anyone about it you will evnetually fell sick and explode like the fizzie in the bottle and everything will just come out of your mouth so when something happens you need to tell someone about it because you don't want to feel sick. We also learnt that there is always a bystander,a victim and a bully. For a bystander to help stop the bullying or sort it out they could start a conversation and say why? and how come?.With the bully they should take some timeout to feel angry and calm down because tough people are false. Then the last person on the list is the victim should be assertive and say something that will take the heat off.(maybe a fib).
